Right now we’re just learning the basics. Neither of us have a Private Pilot’s License (PPL) just yet so we’re on the simplest (and cheapest) aircraft available. That would be the Cessna 172E, aka the C-172E or in military lingo: the T-41C.
What’s the difference between this C-172 and any other C-172? Only the engine. We’re at a fairly high elevation in Colorado Springs (about 6,500 feet above sea level) so that plane needs more oomph. These planes are decked out with 210 horsepower engines to deal with the high altitudes which actually makes them a “high performance” aircraft.
